ECF - Computer Systems
UNIX SYSTEMS
- skule.ecf is our main compute server.
It is an SGI Origin 3200, with 8 processors and 2 Gigabytes of memory.
The operating system is IRIX 6.5.
Licenced software packages are installed on skule,
where they can take advantage of the ample cpu power and memory.
This machine is accessible remotely over the internet.
- The 185 Linux workstations are called p1.ecf -> p185.ecf.
They are used for general-purpose computing.
The operating system is Linux RedHat.
These systems, installed in SF1106 (20), SF1012 (47) and SF1013 (108)
are also remotely accessible over the internet.
- The machine called remote.ecf handles ftp requests as well
as being the host machine for ssh connections to ecf.utoronto.ca. This machine's
primary purpose is for remote access for light weight jobs such as mail reading
and ftp access for web sites.

- www.ecf ----> Web server.
- cannon.ecf --> Mail server.
- info2.ecf ---> Tape backup server.
- fs2.ecf -----> User Files server.
- fs3.ecf -----> User Files server.
- fs5.ecf -----> User Files server.
- fs6.ecf -----> User Files server.
- fs.ecf ------> Name server.
WINDOWS SYSTEMS
- The 174 WINDOWS 2000 workstations are used for general-purpose computing.
These systems are installed in WB316 (52), BA1120 (64), BA2124 (56) and BA2128 (26).
- Some departments have PC labs that share the ECF WINDOWS Servers. Check with
your department for their location.
