Resource Limits

The UNIX and WINDOWS systems have relatively few limitations. UNIX accounts have a cpu limit set at 15 minutes to stop runaway jobs. Users needing more cpu time can use the limit command to increase their cpu limit:

% limit cpu 30m

sets your limit to 30 minutes. You have to do this each time you login to override the default cpu limit, so you should add a line to your .login or .mylogin file. Make sure you give yourself a reasonable time limit.

While there is no limit set for diskspace use, there is a specific use for the computer account and disk space used for non-academic activity should be avoided.

Every user can create their own web page but there are limits to what is acceptable.

ECF also sets a printer paper quota.
