Limitation of Enrolment

The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering reserves the right to limit the number of registrants in any program or course described in this calendar if the number of qualified applicants exceeds the teaching and other resources available to the Faculty.

Details of the University of Toronto undergraduate admission requirements are contained in University of Toronto Handbook available from Admissions and Awards, University of Toronto, 315 Bloor St. W., Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M5S 1A3, and in all Ontario secondary schools. Information is also available in the Applied Science and Engineering publication.

Copies are available by phoning: 416-978-3872 or by fax: 416-978-1866.

The 2000 requirements for admission to the First Year of the Undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering follow:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)

1. Students must be eligible to receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

2. Students must present a minimum of six Ontario Academic Courses (OACs) specified by the Faculty.

3. The six required OACs are:

  • Algebra and Geometry
  • Calculus
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • English OAC I / Anglais - Language and Literature
  • Choice
4. Students are encouraged to satisfy the sixth OAC requirement with a humanities/social science credit.

5. Students whose first language is not English and who have studied less than four years in an English language school system are allowed an exemption from the requirement of the OAC English/Anglais 1 and may replace this with an alternative OAC. The University, however, strongly encourages you to include English in your preparation for university. If you complete the OAC English 1 or an equivalent course as an extra credit and you are required to present proof of English facility, the results of the OAC English 1 will not be used in calculating your overall average for admission consideration.

6. The Faculty selects students by taking into consideration a wide range of criteria including OAC marks, subjects taken, and supplementary information obtained through the Student Profile Form. The Faculty will not review your file unless this form is completed.
