FAQ's: Parents of Commuter Students
Please note: DEEP and the University of Toronto are not responsible for your son or daughter before class starts (9:30 am) or after class finishes (3:30 pm). This also applies to the lunch time hour; students are encouraged to eat together and must stay on campus. It is the responsibility of the student to follow this "stay on campus" rule.
Q: Where do I bring my son or daughter on Monday morning?
A: On Monday morning of each Week, your son or daughter will go directly to the lobby of the Bahen Center (40 St. George Street) for 9:00 am. This is a very important meeting and all participants must attend. Every other day of the week, your son or daughter will go directly to class. Classes start at 9:30; the only day your son or daughter needs to arrive at 9:00 is Monday.
Q: Should I drive my son or daughter to class, or should they take public transit?
A: We highly recommend the use of public transit, due to high traffic volumes during rush hour in downtown Toronto. The closest subway stop is Queen's Park Station. You can find public transit information at the following links:
Q: Where's the best spot to pick-up my son or daughter?
A: The best pick-up place is on St. George Street, in front of the Galbraith Building (35 St. George Street) or the Bahen Center (40 St. George Street). We recommend that if you are picking-up your son or daughter, you arrange a pick-up location at the beginning of the first class and keep the same location throughout the duration of the course.
