After Class Clubs Program

The DEEP Summer Academy also offers an after-class clubs program. The program will allow participants to investigate extra-curricular interests, beyond the DEEP academic curricula, with their peers, current University of Toronto students and other members of the university community.

This program will be open to both residence and commuter students and is a great way to meet individuals from outside your DEEP classes and explore the university environment.

DEEP students will have the opportunity to give input on the after class clubs program prior to the beginning of DEEP, so that the most exciting and relevant programming is offered for our participants.

The program may include options like:

  • Journalism: create publications for fellow DEEP classmates and alumni
  • Salsa: learn to dance this fun & fast-paced Latin dance
  • Art: learn and practice technical, architectural and still-life sketching and watercolours at various locations of the campus
  • Music: share your musical talents by composing and performing music for the DEEP Program final celebration
  • Chess: a week-long chess tournament for chess fanatics to share tips and tricks with fellow enthusiasts
  • Photography: take workshops to learn photography techniques
  • Take an in-depth look at the most fascinating research projects in our faculty
  • Science and Society: discuss issues in the news regarding engineering, ethics and society
  • Intramural Sports: participate in athletic tournaments including rugby, soccer and ultimate Frisbee
  • Hip Hop: explore the hip hop movement through music & dance

Students will sign up for an after-class clubs option upon arrival at DEEP. This exciting addition to the DEEP Summer Academy will provide all DEEP participants with further opportunity to explore personal interests and interact with like-minded students from across the country!
