Continuing Engineering Education

Winter Program

More than 100 new courses are set to run in the winter session of the Faculty’s Continuing Engineering Education (CEE) program, which begins in January 1998. You can find a description of new courses on CEE’s web site or use the program’s fax-back phone service to obtain a copy of course descriptions by discipline.

Did you know?

At least 50% of Continuing Engineering courses are taught by experts from industry, many of whom are graduates of the Faculty. These engineers find teaching a rewarding way to share their knowledge and network with others with similar interests. "We’re always looking for excellent instructors who might be able to spare the time to deliver an evening or daytime seminar," says CEE Director Leslie Dolman. "If you have an idea you’d like to discuss, give us a call."

You can contact the CEE office by phone at (416) 978-3119 or toll free 1-88-233-8638; by fax (416) 971-2141 or by email cee@ecf.utoronto.ca. CEE’s website address is www.ecf.utoronto.ca/apsc/cee/index.htm

CEE Delivers In-Depth Telecommunications Program To Korean Delegation

A group of senior engineers and technical managers from Korea visited the Faculty last month to attend a four-week intensive program on Information Technology, organized by CEE. The program was delivered by experts from industry and our Faculty, including Professors Anindo Banerjea, Irene Katzela, Mark Fox, John Chattoe and Javan Erfanian. In addition to the academic program, CEE also arranged field trips for the participants to relevant companies in Toronto and Ottawa including Nortel, Rodgers Communications, NRC, Cognos Ltd., QNX Ltd. and Telepresence Inc. CEE plans to expand its international programs in 1998, with groups from Europe and Asia participating on-campus and via videoconferencing

In-company courses

CEE regularly offers its courses at company sites, an arrangement that saves travel time and reduces registration fees for participating organizations. Existing programs can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of the host organization.

Recognition for Professional Development Activities

Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are an internationally recognized system for acknowledging your professional development activities. CEUs for our courses are offered under the auspices of the Engineering Institute of Canada/L'institut Canadien de IngEnieurs (EIC) which is an authorized CEU sponsor of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).
