Parts
The programs listed above all work in conjunction with one another.
Together they form the Design Lab software package.
What is PSpice?
PSpice is the program which carries out the actual simulation of the circuit.
Normally, one describes a circuit (using the PSpice language) on a text editor.
PSpice simulates the circuit, and calculates its electrical characteristics.
If we need a graphical output, PSpice can transfer its data to the Probe program for
graphing purposes.
What is Probe
Probe is a program which can take the data from an electrical circuit, and provide a
variety of graphical displays on the users request.
What is Schematics
Schematics is a graphical interface for PSpice. Instead of using the
PSpice language to describe your circuit, you merely draw the Schematic
of the circuit, describe how you want to analyze it, and simulate. Design
Lab will first convert your schematic into the PSpice language that the
PSpice interpreter understands. The program is then compiled and run in
the
regular way, and the results are printed onto an output file.
This Tutorial is by no means a comprehensive guide to the Design Lab.
However it should help you get your feet off the ground.
One word of caution.
This Tutorial assumes you are
running version 7.1 of Microsim's PSpice, with
WIN95 as your Operating System.
